RIU avoids 10 tons of plastic waste per year thanks to their "ecological
breakfasts"
The holiday hotel chain, "
RIU Hotels &
Resorts" reduced by 10 tons the consumption of plastic throughout the
year 2001, according to the environmental balance of the firm at the end
of the year.
According to their Press Department, this reduction in plastic waste
is due fundamentally to the maintenance of "ecological breakfasts" introduced
in 1997, whereby products are served in bulk, such as milk, butter, marmalade,
or yoghurt, instead of individual portions.
