The
Balearic Government, in the cabinet meeting, approved on Monday, October 16, proposed by the councillor for
Inland
Revenue and Budgets, Joan Mesquida, the Draft Law for the general budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2001 and the
text of the law for tributary, economic and administrative measures and the public function that accompanies it.
The total budget for the CAIB for the year 2001 comes to 158.148.559.081 ptas., which represents an increase of 7.08%
with respect to 2000. The increase in investment over the previous year is 7%.
The budget for education is 40 percent of the total. The foresee an improvement in education infrastructure and the
construction of new centres to a value of over 7,500 million pesetas, as well as free education for children between 3 and 6.
