If you live on Formentera, to study a university career implies, at
least, an extraordinary effort. Therefore it is not surprising that Marià
Castelló (Sant Francesc, 1976) is the first person born on Formentera
to graduate in Architecture. But that is not all. This young architect
obtained a 10 in the end of career project, and this same project has just
received the Dragados Prize 2003 for End of Career Projects, a prestigious
award with 3,600 euros given annually by the
Fundación
Dragados.
The winning project is a cultural centre situated in the property of
Can Mayans in Sant Francesc, between the hill of the windmills of sa Mirada
and the area behind the historical centre. Full information about the building
can be found on the web
estudio de arquitectura
m.ar, integrated by Castelló and the Mallorcan, Jaume Luis.
According to the fortunate architect: "I cannot deny that I am very
pleased. This recognition, out of proportion on the one hand, has meant
an injection of energy to continue working."
Marià Castellò is also the author of the
Pre
Project for the Plaza de Es Pujols.
