The World Theatre Day was created in 1961 by the
International
Theatre Institute (ITI). It is celebrated annually on the 27th March
by ITI Centres and the international theatre community. Various national
and international theatre events are organized to mark this occasion. One
of the most important of these is the circulation of the World Theatre
Day International Message traditionally written by a theatre personality
of world stature. The World Theatre Day International Message for the year
2002 has been written by Girish Karnad, a playwright from India.
For the same March 27, the
Service
of Cultural Activities of the UIB has organised the presentation of
the play "L'estrany cas del Doktor Jeckyll i Mr. Hyde", by the university
group Morgana Teatre, at 8.30 p.m., at the Teatre Municipal de Palma. Free
entrance.
