The next event of
United nations, after
the
International Conference on Financing
for Development, held from March 18 to 22 in Monterey (Mexico), will
be the
Second World
Assembly on Ageing, that will be celebrated from April 8 to 12 in Madrid.
In resolution 54/262, the General Assembly of the United Nations decided
to convene the Second World Assembly on Ageing in 2002, on the occasion
of the twentieth anniversary of the first World Assembly on Ageing which
was held in Vienna in 1982.
The Government of Spain will host the Second World Assembly on Ageing
in Madrid, from 8 to 12 April 2002. The Assembly will be devoted to the
overall review of the outcome of the first World Assembly, and to the adoption
of a revised plan of action including a long-term strategy on ageing, in
the context of a society for all ages.
