China became the 143rd member of the
WTO
on 11 December 2001, 30 days after it had notified the Director-General
that it had completed domestic ratification of its accession package.
China has agreed to undertake a series of important commitments to open
and liberalize its regime in order to better integrate in the world economy
and offer a more predictable environment for trade and foreign investment
in accordance with WTO rules.
