On Friday, November 30, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" will
reach the screens throughout Spain, one of the most awaited premiers of
the year.
Finally, Warner Bros' great success, based on the phenomenal books by
the Scottish writer, J. K. Rowling, can be seen in Mallorca, as from the
same day as the premier, not only in the Spanish version as was foreseen,
but also in its original version subtitled in Catalan. After a long
controversy which has surrounded the premiere due to the refusal by Warner
to dub the film in Catalan, thanks to the pressure by the media and the
negotiations carried out between Warner and the Departments of Culture
of Catalunya and the Balearics, one of the copies subtitled in Catalan
will be available to be shown at the Sala Rialto in Palma.
The film, directed by Chris Columbus and starring Daniel Radcliffe,
tells the story of an orphan who lives with his uncle and aunt. One day
the opportunity comes to study at the Hogwarts School of magicians. Bored
of a family who ignores him and who does not love him, Harry decides to
change his life. In this special school, the star discovers a new world
full of magic and fantasy.
Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Richard Harris, Alan Rikman, John Cleese
and Ian Hart complete the cast of the film, that was filmed in the British
Gloucester Cathedral with music by John Williams.
