Do the Balearics need a faculty for Medicine?

Do the Balearics need a faculty for Medicine?
In the latest issue of the magazine Salut i Forįa an interesting article is included about the pros and contras of the creation of the medical career at the UIB.  According to the magazine, there are many points to consider.  Those in favour of this initiative remember that our community , together with La Rioja, are the only communities in Spain that do not have these courses and state the ever increasing need of the public. Those who are against the proposal warn of the high cost of the creation and maintenance of these studies, and point out the long list of unemployed, which includes many medical professionals.  However, all coincide in one aspect: if this faculty is created it should be submitted to criteria of very high quality.

In the digital version of the magazine, www.salut.org, we can find other important articles that cover varied topics such as allergies, sport in summer, the recent changes in Son Dureta, hydrotherapy, and the incidence of chicken pox in the Balearics.  It also includes an interview with the councillor for Labour and Training of the Balearic Government, Eberhard Grosske.
