The firm foresees a total of 12,000 employees by the end of 2001.
The setting up of their first hotel in Jamaica, Riu Tropical Bay, and
the seventh in Tenerife, Apartohotel Riu Adeje, makes the present personnel
of
RIU Hotels almost 11.500
employees.
According to hotel chain, they envisage closing the year with 500 more
employees, due to the incorporation of the new hotels: Riu Park El Kebir,
in Hammamet in Tunis; and Riu Palace Madeira, in the Portuguese island,
in July.
Meanwhile, the international magazine, "Green Hotelier", specialising
in hostelry and environment, praises in their April issue the programme
of environmental measures adopted by RIU in the last five years. "Green
Hotelier" is a publication in English distributed by International
Hotels Environment Initiative (IHEI), an organisation in favour of the
environment that includes prestigious world hotel chains, such as Hilton,
Marriott or Radisson, and is presided by Prince Charles of Wales.
