The
GOB has given president
Antich an hour clock to symbolise the fact that time is running out for
the present
Balearic
Government to take the necessary measures to stop the urban growth.
According to the ecological organisation, after 20 months in the government
and in relation to urban and territorial topics, they have passed very
few legal reforms, few judicial initiatives, and few plans or projects
according to the government programme signed by the political parties that
make up the
progress
pact.
The GOB believe that the figures that have been published in the last
few months about details of urban growth, energy consumption, waste production
etc. for 2000 in Mallorca, demonstrate the delicate environment and urbanist
situation of the island. Therefore, they demand urgent measures to
slow down or stop this tendency such as the the reform of the Territorial
Planning Norms, the creation of a new Land Law, a moratorium in the authorisation
of golf courses, a previous step towards elaborating a Sectorial Directive
Plan for these installations; and a moratorium in the authorisation of
marinas.
Meanwhile, on March 28, the GOB presented at the registry of the Balearic
Fiscalía, two official complaints for presumed ecological offences
against uncontrolled dumping of rubble (from demotions and building), one
referring to the old quarry at Can Set in Llucmajor and the other referring
to the remaining illegal dumps that are to be found all over Mallorca.
