Xavier Pastor resigns as director of Greenpeace
In the Board Meeting of Greenpeace Spain last weekend in Madrid, three historical leaders resigned: the president: Helena Fusté, the vicepresident Julio Mas and the managing director, Xavier Pastor. To take the Presidency, the new Board has designated the Agricultural Engineer, Dolores Romana, an 35 year old active member who has been in Greenpeace for over ten years.

Xavier Pastor, until now the Managing Director of the ecological organisation, has resigned as he considered himself to be an obstacle to resolve the conflict that has involved a sector of the personnel of the Madrid office, since he had intended to transfer part of this to Mallorca.

The Mallorcan, Xavier Pastor, like the retiring President, has expressed his support for the new board and its president.  The Board has announced that as from now they will set up an open and transparent process to elect the new Managing Director, and have asked Pastor to act as the strategic consultant for them, commissioning him to design and set up a team of rapid intervention by the oganisation in aggressions and national or international environment catastrophes.

In relation to Pastor Dolores Romano has stated "The prestige, strength and relevance of Greenpeace in the present Spanish society is due to the great work carried out by Xavier Pastor these past years.  He is a person who I admire and thank in the name of the whole organisation for his dedication, honesty and commitment to the defence of the environment throughout his life.  We consider Pastor to be an extremely valuable person for the organisation and we hope we will continue to count on him to carry out new projects that will confront the great environment challenges of the beginning of the XXI Century."
