The "Projecte d'ajuda humanitària d'emergència a El Salvador" will be administered by the NGO Metges del Món-Illes Balears and will have a total budget of 20 million pesetas. The Balearic Government will also subsidise part of the project by Apotecaris Solidaris "Pla d'Emergència", also aimed at this central American country.

In El Salvador rescue work and evacuation continue, which are hindered by the quakes that are still occurring in the area. According to the Red Cross, over 600 bodies have been found and there are still at least 1,000 people missing.
