The Conference on Peripheric-maritime Regions (
CRPM) of Europe, held from
October 11 to 13 2000, the XXVII General Assembly in the Toscan city of
Florence, Italy, under the slogan "New challenges: regions, cohesion and
new forms of government."
The General Assembly of the CPRM is integrated by 127 regions that
belong to 18 European states. The structure and working of the
organisation is based on different committees that group, via zones, the
member regions: Committee for the North Sea, Committee for the Baltic
Sea, Committee for the Atlantic Arc, Committee Intermediterranean, and
the Committee for the Islands, presided by the Councillor for Economy
and Budgets of the Balearic Government, Joan Mesquida, that is
integrated by 25 regions of 11 States, including the Balearics.
What is more, the councillor Mesquida, the president of the Balearic
Government, Francesc Antich, will also participate in the sessions of
the Assembly of the CRPMA and will pronounce the speech "A European
territorial strategy cannot ignore the insular dimension" and he will
attend the meeting of the political bureau and the election ceremony of
the new president of the Conference of the Peripheric-maritime Regions.
