The support committee for Juan Carrero Saralegui for the Nobel Peace
Prize 2000, lead by Bernat Vicens i Vich, has presented the final
document supporting the candidacy to the Nobel Committee in Oslo.
On October 1, 1990 the FPR (Frente Patriótico Ruandés), with an
important support from Uganda, USA and Great Britain, initiated the
reconquest of Rwanda. Later the monoethnic Tutsis armies of both
countries, together with Uganda, invaded the former Zaire (now RD of
Congo). The conflict of Africa of the Great Lakes, that also affects
Burundi, has become a human tragedy of great magnitude, that Juan
Carrero, committed to nonviolence for twenty five years, had been
denouncing persistently.
In the mentioned final document, presented to the Nobel Committee in
Oslo proposing the candidacy of Juan Carrero, a review is made of the
conflict of Africa of the Great Lakes and it is mentioned that the Nobel
Peace Prize would be extremely useful for the project that the candidate
and his foundation promote, together with other similar organisations,
with the objective of of initiating a legal process against the genocide
governments of African countries involved and against all those who are
coresponsible of their crimes.
