Riu Taíno reopens its doors in the Dominican Republic
Riu Taíno, the hotel with which the RIU chain started there international presence a decade ago in the Dominican Republic, has reopened after a complete refurbishment, passing from 4 to 5 starts and keeping the system of "all included."

This RIU establishment, with 360 rooms, is on the sea front in Punta Cana and its inauguration in 1991 represented the first of the Mallorcan hotel chain outside Spain.

This hotel was followed by 6 more in the Dominican Republic, offering at present 2,832 rooms with a total of 5,660 beds. After the start of their international presence in the Dominican Republic, the chain expanded to Cuba, Florida, México, Portugal, Tunis, Morocco, Bulgaria and Cyprus. As of today, the firm, that began in 1953 with a small hotel in Mallorca, has 87 hotels, 23,000 rooms and 10,500 employees.

With a view to the reopening of the Riu Taino, the main Spanish touroperators in the market will distribute during July attractive offers around 135,000 pesetas for a full individual weekly package or for 190,000 pesetas for two weeks.

The Caribbean is one of the favourite resorts for the Spanish RIU clients. In the last winter season (November to May) RIU increased by 25% the number of their Spanish guests in the Dominican Republic, centred on Punta Cana and with special preference for the hotels Riu Taino, Riu Bambú and Riu Palace Macao.
