The
Balearic Cabinet approved on Friday, the proposal for the transfer
of responsibilities to the Insular Councils for matters connected to
territorial planning. The agreement for transfer of responsibilities
was presented in a press conference on Thursday with the Balearic
President, Frances Antich, and the president of the
Mallorcan Council,
Maria Antònia Munar. The objective is that the institutions of each
island can develop their own territorial model, as long as they are in
keeping with the Balearic Government's policy.
According to article 39.8 of the
Autonomous Statutes, the Insular
Council may receive, amongst others, the responsibilities relating to
the elaboration of insular territorial plans and the elaboration and
approval of the planning instruments as follow:
- Sectorial directive plan for quarries
- Sectorial directive plan for urban solid waste
- Sectorial directive plan for for tourist planning
- Sectorial directive plan for for commercial premises
- Sectorial directive plan for for golf courses
The coordination of the action by the autonomic and insular
administrations will be carried out, preferably via the Committee for
the Coordination of Territorial Policy, regulated by the
Law of
Territorial Planning.
