Jaume Matas named new Minister of Environment
The ex president of the Balearic Government and the number one of the PP party in the Balearic Islands, Jaume Matas, has been named minister of Environment of the new Spanish Government presided by José María Aznar.

The composition of the new government, announced on Thursday by the president Azanar in the Moncloa Palace is the following:

- Presidente del Gobierno: José María Aznar
- Vicepresidencia 1ª y Presidencia: Mariano Rajoy
- Vicepresidencia 2ª y Economía: Rodrigo Rato
- Exteriores: Josep Piqué
- Hacienda: Cristóbal Montoro
- Defensa: Federico Trillo
- Interior: Jaime Mayor Oreja
- Justicia: Ángel Acebes
- Administraciones Públicas: Jesús Posada
- Medio Ambiente: Jaume Matas
- Fomento: Francisco Álvarez-Cascos
- Trabajo: Juan Carlos Aparicio
- Sanidad: Celia Villalobos
- Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación: Miguel Arias Cañete
- Educación, Cultura y Deporte: Pilar del Castillo
- Ciencia y Tecnología: Anna Birulés
- Portavoz: Pío Cabanillas
