The Consulting Committee for Civil Law Constituted

The Balearic Government, in the Cabinet on Friday, has passed the proposal by the Council of the Presidency, the naming of the members of the Consulting Committee for Civil Law, as a permanent consultant organ for the Balearic Government relating to the civil law pertaining to the autonomous community.

Those designated are:
President: Miquel Massot Miquel (university professor).
Secretary: Juan López Gayá (lawyer).
Members: Miquel Coca Payeras (professor), Ignasi Ribas Garau (lawyer), Miquel Àngel Aguiló Monjo (magistrate), Maria José Cànaves Bertos (notary), Jaume Ferrer Pons (notary), Josep Maria Quintana Petrus (property registrar), Cristina Tur Sans (lawyer).

The Consulting Committee for Civil Law was created by Decree 229/1999 based on the Estatut d'Autonomia de les illes Balears, that says that the preservation, modification and development of the civil law pertaining to the Balearics is the exclusive competence of the Autonomous Community.

The Cabinet has also approved the constitution of the Committee for the Coordination, the Evaluation and Study of the Transfer of Responsibilities from the State Administration to the Balearic Autonomous Community.

Responsibilities pending transfer by the State Administration to the Autonomous Community:
- Administration of the health assistance of the Social Security
- Ports and airports qualified as general interest with the State does not reserve that administration
- Administration of the National Institute of Occupation
- Weights, measures and contrast of metals
- Industrial property
- Intellectual property
- Marine salvage
- Meteorological service of the autonomous community
- Administration of Justice (maintenance personnel)
