The magazine
Salut i Força publishes in its latest number an interesting interview with Fèlix Grases Freixedas,
professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Balearic University since 1987. From the
Laboratori d'Investigació en Litiasi Renal, in the
Mateu Orfila i Rotger building at the UIB, Grases has developed a prolific research activity in the field of formation of renal stones.
Amongst the most relevant results obtained in the Laboratory, worth special mention are those on the effect of phitic acid in the
development of renal stones and the invention of a simple analysis system, pioneer in the world, that permits the evaluation of a
future risk of contracting litiasis processes. The kit is so easy that the patient may use it him/herself.
To the question "Do the students of the UIB have the same quality of training as the pupils of other universities?" Felix Grases
answered "The same, no. Much better. The small universities always permit educational processes of a better quality than the
large universities, no matter how prestigious they are."
