Fiestas for Sant Francesc Xavier

December the 3rd is the day of Sant Francesc, patron of the parish of Sant Francesc de Formentera, the most populated urban village on the Island. To celebrate this date, Sa Raval des Pa i Oli - Fiesta Committee, together with numerous collaborating local firms and institutions, have prepared a varied programme of events that will last throughout the weekend.
A great part of the festivities, such as the concerts and the dances, will be concentrated in Sa Plaça, the centre of the town, with the Church and Town Hall as the background. Amongst other proposals, on Friday, December the 2nd, the there will be the presentation of the restoration of the landmarks of Marc Ferrer. On the same Friday, there will be rock and blues by Miquel, Dennis and Cia.
On Saturday, December the 3rd, the day of the patron, as from 10 a.m., there will be a breakfast of fried octopus and a wine contest, followed by the mass, the procession and invitation to "orelletes" and traditional dancing. The activities will carry on at 4 p.m. featuring traditional games and children activities, the VI Trobada de Glosats, the popular barbecue and the concert by Aires Formenterencs, amongst other proposals.
On Sunday the festive activities will continue and worth stressing is the meal with music by the local band Endèmiks.
