The Church of Sant Francesc in now white

Debate about the new look of the religious building.

The architectonic group formed by the Church of Sant Francesc Xavier and the old town hall has now a very different appearance.

The first picture that accompanies this article shows the image that the old church-fortification, built between 1726 and 1738, had until recently. In the second picture you can see the church just after being whitened.

The colour of the door and windows of the adjacent building, known as s'Ajuntament Vell (Old Town Hall), has also changed. Originally they were blue and now show the natural colour of the wood.

Besides the Church of Sant Francesc, in Formentera there are two other parish churches: one in Sant Ferran de ses Roques and the other one in Pilar de la Mola. The Church of Pilar de la Mola was before the only white one, but now there are two and the one in Sant Ferran becomes the exception.
