The
European
Consumer Day will be held on March 15. The
Spanish
Presidency, in collaboration with the European Commission, will celebrate
this event focused on the issue of "Consumer Representation", a subject
that will be addressed throughout all European capital cities.

Special importance should be given to the following objectives set for
this year's European Consumer Day:
1.- To hold an open debate on the new challenges that associations and
consumers are facing: the information society, liberalisation of services,
transboundary commercial operations, dialogue with economic operators,
etc.
2.- To heighten the awareness of the general public as regards the importance
of having strong and representative consumer associations.
3.- Sharing experiences within the associative movement.
4.- To study the importance of European Governance as it relates to
the associative movement and consumer protection.
