The film
"Captain
Corelli's Mandolin", directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love),
will premier today throughout Spain.
"Captain Corelli's Mandolin" is based on the novel by Louis de Bernieres,
adapted by Shawn Slovo. The story takes place on a small Greek island,
Cefalonia, during the first days of the World War II. The action begins
when the Italian army leaded by Captain Corelli (Nicholas Cage) occupies
the territory. Corelli falls in love with the beautiful Pelagia (Penélope
Cruz), that is engaged with Mandras (Christian Bale), a young fisherman
that has left his land to fight with his compatriots.
