Excursions by bike or on foot are an ideal way of visiting the island
of Formentera and to be able to enjoy its most interesting places.
With a view to promoting these kind of excursions, the Patronat de Turisme
de Formentera has edited together with the Balearic Government and the
Council of Eivissa and Formentera, the guide Green Circuits with information
about 19 excursions around the island, that by bike or on foot let you
admire unknown scenery and keep in direct contact with nature. The guide
is free and can be found at the Tourism Office and other information points.
The itineraries proposed by the guide are a maximum of three kilometres
long and some of them pass through protected natural areas, such as the
paths that go round S'Estany Pudent, S'Estany des Peix, or Ses Illetes
that leads to the most well known beaches of Formentera via dunes, pine
trees and the salt tanks of Ses Salines. Other itineraries present rural
Formentera: Camí de ses Vinyes, Camí de
sa Talaiassa, Camí de Cala Saona, Camí des Cap... And others,
such as the ancient Roman road, that still preserves remains of the stone
way in some areas, presents the ancient path to mount La Mola round the
cliff and into the wood.
