What is World Wetlands Day? 2 February each
year is
World Wetlands
Day. It marks the date of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands
on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar, on the shores of the
Caspian Sea. The
Convention on Wetlands
is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national
action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use
of wetlands and their resources.
For this celebration, the
Albufera
Natural Park of Mallorca has organised for next Saturday February 3,
some itineraries, guided by monitors from the Environmental Education Service
of the
Department
of Environment, to inform on the natural values of the area.
Those interested should go to the reception desk at the Park between 9
a.m. and 1 p.m.
