Last November 9 at the French Port of Le Sables d'Olonne, the regatta
Vendée Globe 2000 started, with the participation of the Mallorcan solo
navigator Javier Sansó.
Javier Sansó Windman was born in Palma in 1969 and is a graduate in
Finance and International Relations at Boston. He started to navigate at 3 months
and has carried out 9 transatlantic crossings, two of these alone. In
1997, at 27 years of age, he reached the South Pole in a 55 foot boat.
The regatta, Vendée Globe, is one of the hardest sporting trials in
existence. In the present edition three participants have already
withdrawn, such as the Briton, Mike Golding, one of the favourites, due
to a broken mast. According to the latest news, the Mallorcan, Javier
Sansó, on board Old Spice, is sailing without problems in the group of
boats that are leading the competition.
