The Mallorcan Cyclist, Joan Llaneras, has got a gold medal at the
Sydney
Olympics in the 40-kilometer points race.
Joan Llaneras, from Porreres, had already obtained the world
championship for this speciality in 1996 and 1998. The Mallorcan's
medal is the second gold medal obtained by the Spanish delegation up to
now, after the triumph by Isabel Fernández from Alicante in Judo, and
the third in all, since the Russian resident in Torremolinos, Nina
Zhivanavskaya obtained a bronze medal in swimming.
