From March 6 to 10 in the
Fairs Hall of Barcelona will be held the Food and Drink Fair
Alimentària 2000 in which 22
exhibitors from the Balearics will participate, as well as the
Institut Balear de Desenvolupament Industrial, IDI, with samples of
Balearic Products. The IDI will give priority during Alimentaria 2000 to the promotion of almonds, carob beans, wine and cheese with
denomination of origin, and the generic denomination as ecological agriculture.
The vicepresident and councillor for Economy, Commerce and Industry of the Balearic Government, Pere Sampol, will attend the Fair
on Monday as it will be opened at 12.00h by Princess Elena de Borbon, the President of the Generalitat of Catalunya, Jordi Pujol
and the Minister of Agriculture, Jesus Maria Posada.
New in this edition, from Monday to Tuesday the International Food Forum will be held, to be opened by the Vicepresident of the
central Government and Minister of Commerce, Rodrigo Rato, and closed by the Minister of Industry, Josep Piquè. In the Forum a
study will be presented, "El círculo virtuoso de la comunicación" in which they state that the food firms should reform their strategy
of communication to adapt to the new consumer demands and the fragmentation of audience provoked by the appearance of new
technologies such as Internet.
